Dover, Kent has its own population of breeding European Yellow Tailed scorpions. Some dont believe it, some are horified to find out how, but they have adapted well to our climate. They are even spreading out to other parts of Kent and, so I have been told, Norfolk too.

I have never seen any myself but it is well known they are at Sheerness docks, even inwards to the isle of sheppy. They have been here years. I used to keep scorpions and treid to purchase some but they are cites apendix 1 or 2. The guy at the pet shop said he collects them from the kent cost and would get me some. Thinks its legal as some clause about a non native species can be taken out the wild or something. Google it mate there is loads on them or see link http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/eflavuk/es.htm. Here in Kent we also have wallabys, parakeets and boar. All the best Rik

Thanks for the Info Ric, however, I have this site already ...
What I'm actually hoping for, is someone who could possibly meet us down there, and lead us directly to them, instead of us spending a day or so looking for a needle in a haystack, to no avail.

One of Marks members? Salt of the Earth that Chap, and a good friend too, it would be great to meet you there mate, but I must find them on the day I come down, as I don't have my own transport anymore, and can't lug my tent and everything about anymore neither, broke my back in a car accident a few years ago.
Let's see if anyone else would be interested in coming along?

That's thoughtful of you Rik, but I'm not asking you to go on my behalf, however, if you must, then whatever you do, please be careful and don't get stung.

I've been meaning to go looking for years so this is the kick up the backside I need. The sting of Euscorpius Flavicaudis is only mild at best. Equated to that of a bee sting so unless someone is sususceptible to anaphylactic shock the scorps pose no threat. In fact its only the Buthidea family of scorps that are dangerous and only a very small number of those. It'll be a challenge for me in the warmer mounths this spring and summer.

Hi Rik, sorry I haven't been around recently, but posts became so scarce that thought 2012 had come early, but I'd slept through it.
Thanks for keeping me informed my friend, and I look forwards to us meeting up one day.
