I took this photo during the winter. The snow was a couple of feet deep. I know what made these marks in the snow.... but do you?

I would say a it's bird of some variety, with the splaying effect made by its wing feathers.
If I was to hazzard a guess without any indication of scale, I would proberbly say Pheasant.

I now see the rest of the picture, the bird may quite easily be smaller than a Pheasant judging by the chainlink fencing in the top left corner, it looks as there's two of them, maybe not realising the snow was a deep as it was, has left a landing trail in the snow.

Pheasant was a good guess. I have seen identical prints to these made by a pheasant. However, these particular ones were made by cockerels (sorry, I cheat a bit at times!)
