hello,
well i'm kind of new to these forum thingies! but as this site is about one of my fave topics of the moment i thought i'd join!
and i'll tell ya why it is one of my fave subject at the moment i live in a little village which is near to ketton quarry where there have been numerous black leopard sightings over the years and not long after i moved in two and a half years ago i was walking my dog who was only a pup at the time when i heard a very odd loud growl/roar which scared the life out of my pup and he dragged me home and when i told me dad who is a firm believer in big cats in the uk he told me about the quarry and all the sightings there!
well now my dog is 60kgs and no longer a wimp but while out walking about three weeks ago we were just inside the village at around 2230 and the dog went nuts he was frightening me with the way he went on, he was snarling and growling very loudly at a garden that was too dark for me to see into and we got nearer all i could smell can only be described as the strongest cat pee ever !! upon smelling this i began to reaslise what it might be he was so aggitated about, he was shoving me into the road away from the garden in question and refused to take his eyes off it !! i had to drag him backwards for 200yrds before he turned and sniffed about like an idiot but he still kept looking behind us and growling! whatever it was he felt extremly threatened by it and he even tried to attack a motorbike around the corner on the way home because it had a cover on and he didn't know what it was. he wouldn't allow me away from his side and kept shoving me about to keep me in front of him and away from whatever it was!! and he always sits in front of me at the door step when we get home but he stood behind me pushing me into the door!! it was mental!!anyway last week apparently a dog walker saw a black leopard in the village and todays peterborough evening telegraph has a story of a lady in bretton which is about 5 miles or so from here as the crow flies who saw a black leopard in her garden!
i've always believed they are out there but i didn't realise how close! i am absolutly certain that it was a black leopard as the dog don't really get worked up like that unless somebody is trying to break into my house!
it annoys me people just laugh though and say well how come people don't see them all the time but it's hard as i'm sure you know to convince people that they are shy creatures and it can take weeks to get them on film in their natural habbitat let alone the british countryside!
anyway i'm going on a bit so i'll stop typing now!!
