Hi all, I have been able to have a chat with the wild life officer who is looking into to the case. He told me the story as he near it. He had been contacted about the carcass on wednesday but he said that it had been there about a week to 10 days before he had been contacted so there was not much left of it because of foxes badgers etc feeding of it. He said that When he interviewed the farmer he told him of his sighting. There had been snow on the ground on the morning when the farmer got up when he had opened the curtains he saw a deer been chased by what he said was a large black cat they where running at a good speed allow alittle hinded by the snow that was on the ground. The cat chased the deer a cross the field and out of sight of the farmer. The chase had gone through a field of sheep with lamb and the cat had not bothered these. Later on when the farmers son was feeding sheep that where out in the field he saw something over the fence and in the wood next to it when he got there it was the carcass of a deer . It had been killed on one side of the fence which was 3ft 10in high then carried over the fence by what ever killed it and part eaten it. The wild life officer said that someone had taken photos of the carcass on the morning which he is waiting to be processed so that he can have a better chance of identifing the bite markes and the likes and so giveing him a better chance of identifing what killed it but unfortuneity there were no paw prints because it had snowed in the mean time. He said he didnt know why the TV reporter had said the carcass had been send for analyis as this was not the case. He said by what the farmer told him about the size and shape of the cat he thinks it may well be a puma but we will have to wait and see.
