Last year we met down in East Susex, to look for signs of our long returning Wild Boar, we found signs o'plenty and even managed to get one on film.
Now we need to know where all our Boar are in the UK, as due to escapes, herds are gradually building all the time.

hi guys, not been on for ages but i think i spotted a dead wild boar near Corby in Northants. i was driving back home after doing my last parcel drop on my round last night when lying on the grass verge on the A427 between Corby and Market Harborough was what looked like a dead wild boar. it was the wrong colour to be a deer, too big to be a badger and the shape was all wrong too. my mate also saw it and we both agreed that it looked like a boar. it wasnt too far from parts of Rockingham Forest and not too far from East Carlton country park. i'm hoping to go back today for a better look armed with my camera. i'll let you know later. does anyone know if there are wildboar in this area ?

well egg on face :-( but am bit confused by this. went back on wednesday and the '' boar'' turned out to be a deer, but a deer with grey fur when i realised it wasnt a boar i actually thought it was a large dog. as it was very smelly and a bit maggotty ( barf ) and something had been chewing at it i had to look at it's feet to determine what it was ie hooves or paws, and it had hooves. oh well better luck next time. still confused by the colour tho' ??

Oh well never mind. At least you know what it was now. I think Deer can have greyish fur mainly in the winter months though. Please correct me if I'm wrong someone. Kazz x

I had a report of a possible dead Puma on the A11 last month. The road was as busy as it could be. I saw it on the central reservation. It did look like a puma so I asked for police backup as I not only didn't want to be run over but not to cause a crash either. They could not help so I went back on the Sunday. Still too much traffic. Eventually I went back again on a Sunday but at 05.00. I managed to park safely and got to the body. It was a large deer. As it died it's back leg got stuck out behind it looking just like a tail. I managed to video the whole operation and it should be coming out on DVD from Big Cats in Britain soon. Terry

Better luck next time Terry. The ammount of people who drive past road kill, then have second thoughts about it and go back to look only to find it gone!
Plenty of wild boar here in Kent
