Hi folks, have crossposted this from our Yahoo group. Thank you to Paul for posting this.

Hi all , Iv just been walking around my local woods/park ( looking for
a nice camp site ) and i saw the biggest Adder i have ever seen...Iv
seen 100's , but this was Huge..! ..4ft long .! and about 6inch in
dia: at its largest point... Head aprox 2.5 inches across...

This snake showed no fear , and gave 3 good strikes at my stick...when
i picked it up . It made me think of a Gaboon Viper due to the way it
was very slow until it struck-out , mouth open.. I tryed to get pix
but i was to dam sceared to try..!!! ... Plus the Color made me think
if this was a Adder ..!! Most iv seen are Brown / Gray with a "Zig-
Zag" patern running its full lenth....Ok this snake was Brown but had
just a line of Black Dotts running full lenth ... Im now looking at a
snake ref:guide to find out what this was...But if anyone can shed
some light on what this was please let me know ..as im NOT going
camping until i know .. ( lol )

it is an adder. Although most do have the signature zigzag markings on grey background they can also be pure brown, jet black etc... with various marking between.
